Welcome

Hi, welcome to AceWiki! Thanks for your edit to the Kirk page.

Please leave a message on my talk page if I can help with anything! -- Thunderhead (Talk) 00:35, December 3, 2009

Re: For the Glory of AceWiki

Firstly, sorry for not adding the signature. Minor matters aside, this wikia certainly needs some work, in the form of videos, images & new articles. I'd certainly like to help remodel this place so it can be a far more reliable "encyclopedia" of all things Ace Combat. I'll try to get in contact with some ES members to see if they can help. --Protostealth (talk) 22:18, February 11, 2010

Just ~~~~ and the end of comments, it'll automatically add your sig (hit Preview and see). Of course, I speak on behalf of all the wiki in saying that we'll appreciate the help, pictures and videos and all, but be sure to include copyright information on pictures and all that. In fact, I had just recently finished AC Zero, so I'll probably be on a bit more as well. Let's get to work, shall we? HavocReaper48 02:40, February 13, 2010 (UTC)
Wilco. Just registered on ES.info. Preceding unsigned comment by Protostealth (talk) on 10:34, February 13, 2010
Perfect, and wilco's my favorite in-flight phrase, too. Wilco indeed. HavocReaper48 03:36, February 15, 2010 (UTC)
OK, I'm about to post a thread regarding our situation on ES. How about we continue discussing this on MSN? Preceding unsigned comment by Protostealth (talk) on 12:40, February 17, 2010
I don't have one, though I don't think it's necessary, not much else to say other than a "thank you", for bringing attention to the wiki (but of course if it's important, I'll considering joining). Also, please, just four ~s at the end of comments on talk pages, and wikia's magic signing powers will take it from there. HavocReaper48 00:38, February 18, 2010 (UTC)

Ah, I see. Thanks anyway, I'm glad to help out the wikia. BRB, requesting support from ES. Protostealth 00:44, February 18, 2010 (UTC)

ES.info Help

Have fun, I made you an Administrator here. You can protect and delete pages, as well as banning users. Have fun. Ribbon-Azure 18:56, February 18, 2010 (UTC)

Wha...? Really...? I don't recall running... uh ... thanks, I guess? Glad I can help. HavocReaper48 19:05, February 18, 2010 (UTC)
You never ran, I'm using my own discretion here. You and Protosteath seem more into this than I am, and I trust you guys. Have fun, and if you need help, don't hesitate to ask. Ribbon-Azure 19:50, February 18, 2010 (UTC)
(edit conflict)
Alrighty then, I just registered on ES. Also, I moved the picture (I appreciate it, but it was messing up the flow of the conversation). HavocReaper48 20:23, February 18, 2010 (UTC)
Odd... I don't see any options regarding adminship (such as, but not limited to: banning users.) Can somebody please make a test account to test my adminship?
Uh, do you not notice the Delete and Protect options at the top of pages? HavocReaper48 20:23, February 18, 2010 (UTC)

Strangely enough, I don't see them. Azure, you sure you validated my Admin status?

Thanks for deleting that stupid Yellow Squad page.

Like I said, Xbox Live clans should not be advertised on this wiki.

Glad to see the admins doing their job, as always. :)

--Spades Neil 02:17, March 3, 2010 (UTC)

Whew! I thought I was gonna get an angry reply by some clan member for that when I saw the "You have new messages" thing. You're very welcome! HavocReaper48 02:38, March 3, 2010 (UTC)

Super fighters

I think the most appropiate category would be Original Aircraft, not Super fighters. Unsigned comment made by User:Protostealth

Uh... that category there doesn't exist... and, "original" aircraft? By this you mean, "Namco made it, and it is an original/unique design"? Not all the "super fighters" truly exist, yes, but some do, I think. Also, "super fighters" is catchier. TEH ' 48 23:04, March 19, 2010 (UTC)

No, I mean original aircraft as in fictional aircraft designed by Namco; original (originated from them) design.
Capiche? ProtoStealth 23:08, March 19, 2010 (UTC)
Isn't that what I said, but wordier...? Anyways, they're classified as "super fighters" and they're "original" as well, so maybe we should just put the respective aircraft in both categories? HavocReaper48</span 23:33, March 19, 2010 (UTC)

Wikitable

Hi, you look like the most active sysop around here, so I have a favor to ask... Could you import the wikitable/prettytable CSS class from Wikipedia to the MediaWiki:Common.css here? I am planning to add a table of playable aircraft with additional details to Ace Combat 5 and Ace Combat Zero articles, and the wikitable format is ideal for that IMO. Thanks in advance. --Koveras Alvane 09:54, March 23, 2010 (UTC)

Whoa, that's massive coding... just copy and paste the whole thing to here, or simply restore the previous thing? Also, seeing your sandbox, I like the way those planes and such are worked out- this might be a little much, but could you do that with the other AC games as well? HavocReaper48</span 18:51, March 23, 2010 (UTC)
Nah, we don't need all of that. Just the wikitable class. Specifically, copy this into our Common.css:
/* wikitable/prettytable class for skinning normal tables */
table.wikitable,
table.prettytable {
    margin: 1em 1em 1em 0;
    background: #f9f9f9;
    border: 1px #aaa solid;
    border-collapse: collapse;
}
.wikitable th, .wikitable td,
.prettytable th, .prettytable td {
    border: 1px #aaa solid;
    padding: 0.2em;
}
.wikitable th,
.prettytable th {
    background: #f2f2f2;
    text-align: center;
}
.wikitable caption,
.prettytable caption {
    font-weight: bold;
}
And thank you for your kind words. :) Yes, I am planning to do this for other games, as well, though AC0 and AC5 will remain my main focus because they are the only ones I own. --Koveras Alvane 19:47, March 23, 2010 (UTC)
OK, it's there. You're very welcome. HavocReaper48</span 19:51, March 23, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks a lot, that's gonna help a lot. ^^ However, the "<pre><nowiki>" tags were not part of the code itself, so please remove them. ^^ --Koveras Alvane 20:19, March 23, 2010 (UTC)
Fixed. Sorry, coding's really not my strong point. HavocReaper48</span 20:23, March 23, 2010 (UTC)
No problem, I didn't notice it at first, either, only when it screwed up the table markup. ^^ Take a look at my sandbox now and tell me what you think, please. :) Also, do not forget to refresh your browser cache (with Ctrl-F5) when viewing it, just to make sure the new tables are formatted correctly. --Koveras Alvane 20:28, March 23, 2010 (UTC)

Looks fantastic and a lot more organized, feel free to put it in the article. ;). HavocReaper48</span 20:35, March 23, 2010 (UTC)

Alright, here goes! --Koveras Alvane 20:49, March 23, 2010 (UTC)

The Countries Infoboxes

Hi! I have noticed that on countries like Belka that the Infobox is screwed up, well at least on my computer. Is there anyway to fix that? ---Unsigned comment added by User:San Stravinsky

Thanks for notifying me, but what exactly is the problem? I notice the very large amount of coding, yes, (I would move it to a template myself, but I'm not the best at coding. The aircraft articles have a similar problem), but I'll need to know specifically what's wrong. Also, please add four ~'s at the end of each comment to a talk page. HavocReaper48</span 23:39, March 28, 2010 (UTC)

Well, on the infoboxes the map covers up the lettering and its on the left side, is that the coding? ---Unsigned comment added by User:San Stravinsky

So, you're saying, on your screen, the map's overlapping the text, and the infobox is on the left side? ...Have you checked other infoboxes? Is the size of your website window too small? I've double checked a few and they all look fine to me. HavocReaper48</span 01:46, March 29, 2010 (UTC)

I reduced size and increased it, but it still overlaps and stays on the left. Its just odd. And the Infobox text is what is on the left.

On AC2 Plane list

Is this meant to be a list of all planes in the game, or just player controllable? Either way, I'd be willing to help...or am I supposed to be asking someone else?--Wire 02:49, April 20, 2010 (UTC)

I don't have AC2, though, and as with the other lists, I'm assuming playable. The chart's almost done, if you're a bit confused about how to put the info in, tell me. --HavocReaper'48 02:56, April 20, 2010 (UTC)

How do you become a administrator here? can u tell me how? unsigned comment made by User:Grabacr 1

By making edits (ranging from minor, grammatical fixes to new articles to new Ace Combat information), you'll be getting closer to SysOp (System Operator) status. You can always ask an active administrator like me for adminship, then you'll just have to wait.

Continuing with the matter, are you here for adminship or due to sheer curiosity? unsigned comment made by User:Protostealth

Proto, I already addressed the issue on his talk page in a very similar matter, you're kinda butting in... --HavocReaper'48 19:01, May 12, 2010 (UTC)

Delete page

Hey dude can you delete the page about the mig-21-93 we already have a wiki that includes it. Thanks man!

Protostealth renamed mig-21 series article to mig-21 fishbed and then created another article called mig-21 series wich has no content.

Hey dude!

What does RTE mean? --Unsigned comment made by User:Grabacr 1

The Rich Text Editor, Wikia's idea of trying to improve the interface of how us users edit. I personally don't like at all, the only major thing I've seen it done is mess up headers and other formatting. Here's a tip: You see the "source" button on the top right when you edit? Click it. --HavocReaper'48 21:17, May 24, 2010 (UTC)

External Reinforcements

Havoc, I've just registered on the NBGA (Namco Bandai America) forums. Perhaps we can promote our site there, request editors, etc...? ProtoStealth 23:30, June 12, 2010 (UTC)

What's holding you back, Reaper? Answer already; this could change the site as we know it. ProtoStealth 23:43, June 12, 2010 (UTC)

Sorry for the long response... that sounds great, can you leave a link to the site so I can join as well? --HavocReaper'48 16:01, June 13, 2010 (UTC)

Hey Havoc, you post the thread at NBGA, I'm gonna be busy for a while. Do it; this might change the site as we know it. ProtoStealth 18:16, June 13, 2010 (UTC)
So, that's "Game related", right? --HavocReaper'48 18:25, June 13, 2010 (UTC)
That, or Off-Topic. Well, do it on Game Related. ProtoStealth 18:26, June 13, 2010 (UTC)

What's up?

I noticed how you mentioned a couple of total failures of yours. I have a few of my own:

My first flight in the ADF-01F Falken in AC5 on Mission 17+. I used the TLS and blasted Ofnir and Grabacr with one shot at near BVR, then I fly head-on at the SOLG at full afterburner. The laser carves it up...only for me to slam into the damned thing head-on at Mach 2.5... Blaze, Captain, OADF, Status: K.I.A.

ACZ, mission 18 (ADFX-02 duel). Flying a Morgan at full speed to get some distance between me, but Pixy catches up and fires a missile. I pop my speed brakes and the missile goes right past me. You would think he would be smart enough to move so he doesn't rear-end me, but unfortunately Pixy was having an off-day. He slammed his nose right up my tailpipe and blew himself up, with me somehow surviving with 99% damage. (I have no idea how it happened so don't ask...) Cipher, Captain, UAF, Status: Unknown, but a bit disgusted at his former buddy...

Heh, nice. I see you play a lot of ACZ. They're both pretty good, you could add more and put them on your userpage like me! --HavocReaper'48 18:05, June 17, 2010 (UTC)

Take your pick on your favorite, I have more if you want to hear them...

Armaments

Articles should probably be created for the missiles and such no? Like the Sidewinder and the Vulcan 20mm Cannon? Hitman 2 (radio) 00:42, June 25, 2010 (UTC)

We already have a Weapons article, but I guess you can if you make them impressive-sized. --HavocReaper'48 00:49, June 25, 2010 (UTC)
I thought it would be a good idea because most of the aircraft articles have specific types of missiles and stuff (such as the sidewinder) listed under their armament. And don't worry about lack of info on them. I got a head start and was looking them up on Wikipedia. Theres plenty of info on them. Hitman 2 (radio) 00:53, June 25, 2010 (UTC)
Allow me to emphasize two things:
  1. DO NOT PLAGERIZE
  2. Try to keep things relevant to AC. Keeping those two in mind, go ahead. --HavocReaper'48 01:11, June 25, 2010 (UTC)

Ok. Oh, and do we have someone who knows how create templates like the infoboxes for the aircraft? Hitman 2 (radio) 16:27, June 25, 2010 (UTC)

I know how to make and format templates myself, and so does User:Koveras Alvane. --HavocReaper'48 18:45, June 25, 2010 (UTC)

Can you make me one for the weapons, then? Like one color for heat seekers, one for radar guided, that sort of thing? Hitman 2 (radio) 22:47, June 25, 2010 (UTC)

We already have one: Template:Weapon. 70.107.196.107 22:50, June 25, 2010 (UTC)

Well then, thank you Mr. Anon. Hitman 2 (radio) 22:53, June 25, 2010 (UTC)

Well, somebody has to make the INFOBOX, because there's only the parameters & the boilerplate.ProtoStealth 05:33, June 26, 2010 (UTC)

Well.... Where can I find how to do that? Hitman 2 (radio) 06:19, June 26, 2010 (UTC)

I protected it because sometimes unregistered contributers would put fan fiction on it bro.

Spaces

I've noticed that a lot of articles starting with titles such as "Acepedia:_______" and "Category:_______" don't have a space between the : and the next word. Shouldn't they? Hitman 2 (radio) 03:22, June 28, 2010 (UTC)

Uh, I'm not sure. Why, do other wikis have a space? --HavocReaper'48 03:25, June 28, 2010 (UTC)
I'm pretty sure they do. Hitman 2 (radio) 03:29, June 28, 2010 (UTC)
Correction: Yes, they do. And I also wanted to talk to you about the lack of conformity among the articles. The page layout varies from article to article. I think we should try to come up with a layout plan for the articles. Hitman 2 (radio) 03:33, June 28, 2010 (UTC)
An outline, you say? The way the articles are seem fine, but can you give me an example? --HavocReaper'48 15:42, June 28, 2010 (UTC)
Well, lets use the game articles as an example. In some of them, the gameplay information comes first. In others, the story line comes first. And with the storylines, sometimes its called plot, sometimes its called story. With aircraft, sometimes the description of it is called 'overview', others its called 'description'. I know its not really a big difference, but I think its important the articles look as similar as possible. It looks more professional that way. The better our articles look, the better the wiki looks. Hitman 2 (radio) 16:20, June 28, 2010 (UTC)
You have a point with the game articles. Unfortunately, gameplay and such are better covered by an experienced player of the game, and since we have a lack of PS1-Ace Combat players, some game articles lack the "gameplay" header. Gameplay should come before Story/Plot. Overview and description are nothing to go crazy about, they're pretty much the same thing. I believe this should be carried out to the Acepedia talk:Community Portal so the other admins can discuss this. --HavocReaper'48 16:34, June 28, 2010 (UTC)
Done. Hitman 2 (radio) 16:59, June 28, 2010 (UTC)

AC:X AIRCRAFT LIST

You said on your user page:

i could help you with that ive unlocked all air craft in the game and bought them all allso im compiling alist of all ACE/STAR units in the game just look at my blog its still amock up though thanks for you time R.P.H.P. 11:25, July 8, 2010 (UTC)(Midsummersnow)

It needs to be modeled like List of aircraft in Ace Combat 04, with prices and when to unlock, stats, etc., but sounds good. Thanks! --HavocReaper'48 16:23, July 8, 2010 (UTC)
dude iv hit snag all ready because on AC:X on the aircraft pages in the game it doesnt show stat numbers if you know what i mean it just shows a bar so if i do do the list most of it will be guess work on the aircraft stats so what course of action sould i do? R.P.H.P. 08:05, July 9, 2010 (UTC)
Oh, right... sorry, it's been a little while since I've played the game myself. Koveras did an estimate based on how full the bar was, i.e. about half way is 50, for AC04. Think you could try it? --HavocReaper'48 14:26, July 9, 2010 (UTC)
ill try it maybe in percentages ill give it a shot over weekend on on pen and paper then type it up on a blog first R.P.H.P. 14:32, July 9, 2010 (UTC)
With all due respect, are blogs necessary for that? Try Acepedia:Sandbox or even a forum... --HavocReaper'48 14:43, July 9, 2010 (UTC)
Here is the math on how to work out the stats of each aircraft:

each stat bar is 1.65 cm (est.) on the screen so dividing that by 10 equals 0.165 cm (est.) so with that and a ruler you can mearsure the stats

here is an EG>:

F-4E:

SPEED: 1.10cm divide by 0.165cm = 6.666 so take away the last two digts and you get the stat which is 6.6 = 66 so the speed stat is (66 out of 100)

ATA: 0.85cm divide by 0.165cm = 5.151 /> 5.1 = (51 / 100)

ATG: 0.25cm divide by 0.165cm = 1.515 /> 1.5 = (15 / 100)

MOB: 0.5cm divide by 0.165cm = 3.030 /> 3.0 = (30 / 100)

STAB: 0.65cm divide by 0.165cm = 3.939 /> 3.9 = (39 / 100)

DEF: 0.75cm divide by 0.165cm = 4.545 /> 4.5 = (45 / 100)

this can be applied to other stat bars for EG: weapons and parts

please it would be helpful if some one could confirm this math for me. R.P.H.P. 12:16, July 10, 2010 (UTC)

I do apologize, but I suck at math. I see Koveras got something though. --HavocReaper'48 15:15, July 10, 2010 (UTC)

Hi

Hi. I joined this site a long time ago, but i have taken a long break. i am a HUGE fan of the ace combat series. Although i have only played Ace Combat 6, I have vast knowledge of the game and i still play the game today. I'm just introducing myself so we can start off well. I appreciate your time to read this message.

Welcome back. Gonna stick with us? --HavocReaper'48 19:07, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah this time ill stay. although I may not be on for next week due to a trip im going to. Most likely i will only be doing Ace Combat 6 edits so expect more of those. If you want to see my work, I created Gavial, Barracuda, and Silvat Town in my early days joining. They all had either little information or never were created until i stepped in and helped.

I see. Good to have another contributor back. --HavocReaper'48 00:03, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

Based on how popular the first Simulated War was, we decided to stage another one; this time, it's Erusia vs Neucom. Link below:

Hope you enjoy!

New Skin

Whats the deal with new Spongebob looking skin we've got going? Hitman (radio) 21:06, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

It's the Sky theme... --HavocReaper'48 21:07, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

While the name sounds appropriate, I'm not sure this skin fits here........ Hitman (radio) 21:16, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

How about carbon? It would match the color of aircraft, or you can start a forum talking about the skin. --HavocReaper'48 21:20, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

Carbon would be more appropriate I think but we should probably at least get Proto's opinion before we change it. Hitman (radio) 21:26, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

Btw, I want to add videos to the AC6 pages. For instance, I want to add Mission 1 playthrough to the Mission 1 page. I want to do the entire campaign. is that ok?

We already have a List of missions in Ace Combat 6. --HavocReaper'48 21:46, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, video playthroughs are kinda unnecessary. And don't forget to sign your posts! Hitman (radio) 21:52, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

Hey do you mind if I put Mission playthroughs of AC6 into the wiki?

Well, that would make the wiki seem more like a strategy guide than a wiki. --HavocReaper'48 22:45, July 23, 2010 (UTC)
Alright. I've seen the carbon theme, and I don't know whether to use a Sky/Ace Combat X or Carbon/aircraft combination. However, the sky looks better. We can use images from ACX, so that they match. ProtoStealth 23:24, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

Blog Shutdown

Havoc, we have a problem. I got a reply from Sarah Manley of Wikia; she says that the blogs will be shut down, ONLY if the administration and the userbase agrees. First up, WE need to come to a deal. What is your opinion? Should we shut them down or not? I say, dibs on the Shock Cannon'ing of the blogs. ProtoStealth 03:12, August 10, 2010 (UTC)

Heh, you know, PoD, a fellow Smashwikian, made the "Blog to end all blogs" blog to gather a census for disabling them at the time at Smashwiki. But of course, I agree. You should be the one to make the forum about it since you suggested it. --HavocReaper'48 03:45, August 10, 2010 (UTC)

look at this..

Look how stupid this article is.. http://acecombatskies.com/wiki/index.php/Su-34_Fullback

Hey, What are the requirements for becoming an administrator to this wiki? I've added alot of material and will do more for the site, but I dont want to be using all my time and effort on making this site better for nothing if you know what i mean?
