The F-5E Tiger II is a small fighter, designed to be a cheap, and easy to service aircraft. Thanks to that, it became a common starter or early-game fighter throughout the series.
History
Strangereal
F-5Es were operated during the Belkan War. A notable unit was the Gabel Squadron led by Heiko Reck.[1]
The ISAF Air Force and the Federal Erusea Air Force both used Tiger IIs during the Continental War. One F-5E belonged to ace callsign Wang, who escorted Erusean Air Force bombers in a failed attempt to get through Newfield Island.[2]
In the Circum-Pacific War, F-5Es were used by the Osean Air Defense Force and the Yuktobanian Air Force. The most prominent user was none other than the Wardog Squadron.[3] Another notable pilot was Jack Bartlett, who kept a spare Tiger adorned with his personal emblem and number even though he never used it in the war.[4]
During the Aurelian War, the Leasath Air Force operated the aircraft in the early days of the war. One of Leasath's aces, callsign Ghost, also used the aircraft.[5] The Aurelian Air Force's Gryphus Squadron used the aircraft during the battle of Aubrey Air Base.[6]
Joint Assault universe
Although no known units saw action during the Valahia Crisis, Antares Squadron had access to the aircraft.
Infinity universe
F-5Es were mass-produced and made available using the Advanced Automated Aviation Plant for United Nations Forces pilots to utilize during Operation Eternal Liberation.
Game Analysis
Ace Combat Infinity
- "A small scale, lightweight fighter that was developed in America in the 1970s. It is an upgraded version of its predecessor, the F-5A, which was designed to counter the MiG-21, an aircraft that was common in Eastern Bloc countries. The fighter features twin engines, a large main wing and a fire control radar. Despite its low cost, it features excellent handling and maintainability and is currently used in various countries. Its nickname is "Tiger II"."

Trivia
- Multiple camouflage schemes are based on color schemes of F-5Es from the United States Air Force 527th Tactical Fighter Training Aggressor Squadron. These schemes were designed to mimic Warsaw Pact aircraft, specifically the MiG-21, which the F-5 matches in maneuverability. The unit used these color schemes when it was stationed at RAF Alconbury:
- ISAF color in Ace Combat 04: Blue camouflage variant#1.
- Osean color in Ace Combat 5; Soldier/BAF ace "Sternchen" color in Ace Combat Zero; Special 1/Leasath ace "Ghost" color in Ace Combat X; Color 03 in Ace Combat: Joint Assault: Blue camouflage variant#2.
- Yuktobanian color in Ace Combat 5; Mercenary/BAF Gabel Squadron color in Ace Combat Zero; Leasath color in Ace Combat X; Color 02 in Ace Combat: Joint Assault: Brown camouflage.
- The Knight/BAF color in Ace Combat Zero is based on the T-38's black and white camouflage.
- ↑ Players could use one Nonstandard Upgrade Request Form instead of credits for the Lv.6 upgrade.
