The CH-47 is a tandem rotor transport helicopter.
History
Strangereal
The CH-47 first saw use in the Belkan War where is was operated by the Belkan Air Force.
Only one known pilot operated the Chinook during the Usean coup d'état. This was the Usean Rebel Forces ace Comet.
The Chinook was operated by the Federal Erusea Air Force during the Continental War.
The Osean Maritime Defense Force operated the Chinook during the Circum-Pacific War where it was an aircraft of choice for the elite unit Sea Goblin.
During the Emmeria-Estovakia War, the Republic of Emmeria Air Force utilized CH-47s. CH-47s transporting the Emmerian Special Forces were deployed alongside Yellow Jacket during the Rargom Beach offensive, where they deployed the special forces units conducting a recapture operation of an airbase at the city of Ortara.[1]
The aircraft was fielded in the Lighthouse War by both the Erusean and Osean forces. One CH-47 was used by Sea Goblin during a failed rescue of Former President Vincent Harling, who was trapped at the International Space Elevator.[2] During Operation Dragon Breath, Erusea deployed multiple CH-47s in an attempt to prevent Stonehenge from shooting down the Arsenal Bird Liberty.[3]
Both the Leasath Air Force and the Aurelian Air Force operated the Chinook during the Aurelian War.
Joint Assault universe
Both the Valahia and the International Union Peacekeeping Force operated the Chinook during the Valahia Crisis. Notable units include Paper Wasp and Fat Duck.
Infinity universe
The CH-47 was used by the United Nations Forces during Operation Eternal Liberation.

Trivia
- CH-47 models have been shared between games multiple times:
- In Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War, the Belkan CH-47s are the same as Yuktobanian CH-47s in Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War, including the Yuktobanian Air Force markings.
- In Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception and Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy, the Leasath and Usean rebel CH-47 ace Comet (respectively) are the same as Osean CH-47 models in Ace Combat 5, including the Osean Air Defense Force markings.
- In Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War, the Yuktobanian CH-47's camouflage scheme seems to be based off the JGSDF's CH-47J's.
- In Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies, despite being a common enemy target, Erusean CH-47s are never airborne.
- During development of the game, the chopper appears on the HUD as "CH-47D", specifying the variant of the aircraft.
