The EF2000E Typhoon II is a COFFIN-equipped variant of the Typhoon developed for UPEO. It is sparingly used by the organization as a frontline fighter in 2040.
Description
The Typhoon II is nearly identical to the original Typhoon; the only difference is the installation of the COFFIN system. While the Typhoon II still possesses the Typhoon's excellent dogfighting capability, that capability was considered standard by the time the Typhoon II was developed. The lack of any upgrades makes the Typhoon II inferior in power compared to other planes of the era.[1]
It appears to be based on a twin-seat Typhoon trainer, as opposed to the Typhoon's regular appearances in the Ace Combat series where it is a single-seater.
Its specifications are as follows:[1]
- Length: 15.75 m (51.7 ft)
- Width: 10.5 m (34 ft)
- Height: 6.4 m (21 ft)
- Weight: 18,144 kg (40,001 lb)
- Top speed: 3,776 km/h (Mach 3.1; 2,346 mph; 2,039 kn)
- Armor: Light
History
UPEO is the primary operator of the Typhoon II. Nemo, Erich Jager, and Fiona Chris Fitzgerald all used Typhoon IIs at the start of the simulated Intercorporate War.[2][3] Other UPEO pilots also used Typhoon IIs in defense of a Neucom air base if Nemo joins General Resource.[4] However, it makes no further appearances in the war after UPEO's acquisition of more advanced aircraft.
Game Analysis
Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere
- "A multipurpose fighter plane developed by the UPEO-affiliated Joint Military Aircraft Company. It has a large-area delta wing, canards, and a large air intake under the fuselage. Nothing stands out in particular when considering its abilities, and it does not excel in any one thing. Within UPEO's lineup, it is a rather standard aircraft. If anything, it is a well-balanced plane. There is nothing bad about it and it is easy to operate."
