"Vitoze Aerial Defense" is the second mission of Ace of Aces, the downloadable mini-campaign for Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation. It was released in the Xbox Marketplace on February 27, 2008 and costs $3.75 (unlike the other missions that cost $4.38). It takes up 7.84MB of hard drive space.

Plot

In this mission, the player and their allies must defend the western city of Vitoze, the last remaining bastion of Emmerian resistance, from a massive Estovakian Assault.

Part 1 (Initial attack)

The first wave of enemies in the mission consists simply of Mirage 2000-5 and F-4E Phantom II fighters. Shortly after dealing with a few of them, B-52 Stratofortress bombers will spawn north of Vitoze. Following the destruction of all bombers, a "Red" squadron of Tornado GR4s will spawn. These enemies provide ESM to their allies, and will jam the player's target visor at the top left of the HUD. Following the Red aircraft's destruction is another GR4 squadron, Green, which share their ESM and radar jamming capabilities. When Green is taken out, B-52s will spawn east and west, then north of Vitoze. A Red squadron of AH-64 Apache helicopters will spawn north of the city when all B-52s are dealt with, followed by a Green Apache team, which in turn is followed by a Blue team.

Part 2 (Bomber assault)

Shortly after the Apache teams are shot down, a squadron of Phantoms and 2000-5s will spawn in the central area of the map, and will immediately attack the player. Following these fighters, a single XB-70 Valkyrie supersonic bomber will spawn and head towards Vitoze, which will be accompanied by a number of other aircraft spawning shortly thereafter. After all Valkyries are destroyed, three AC-130 Spectre gunships will appear in the north. A number of F-117A stealth aircraft will later spawn, followed by a large formation of AH-64s and UH-9 gunships from the northeast.

Following the destruction of all helicopters, two P-1114 Gyges airships will spawn from the north, escorted by two Typhoon squadrons, named "Seiren" and "Lamia". When both gunships have been taken out, the mission ends.
