Snider's Top

Snider's Top is a glacial, mountainous landmass situated on the western coastline of the largest island in Usea's northern gulf. It is located due east of White Valley and southwest of the port of Saint Ark.

History

Usean coup d'etat

Main article: Operation Bellissima

In the final days of the 1998 Usean coup d'état, Scarface Squadron was dispatched to Snider's Top to eliminate the fleet of warships that were serving as the coup d'état forces' final line of defense. The ensuing engagement on August 30 was a decisive victory for the Usean Allied Forces, and resulted in the destruction of numerous rebel warships, advanced bombers, and the Federal Erusea Air Force's Albireo Squadron, which had defected to the rebels' cause. This led to the success of Operation Bellissima.^[1]

2000s

Following the end of the Continental War in 2005, the Continental Nations' Economic Alliance constructed two massive naval platforms at Snider's Top. The economic alliance constructed the large platforms to serve as a transit point for ships travelling from Port Edwards to North Point, due to ships often suffering damage from the rough seas and ice floes of the Cascade Ocean. On the platform out to sea, a runway was also constructed for the purpose of cargo transport in the event that deteriorating nautical conditions render sea voyage unviable.^[2]

Lighthouse War

At the onset of the Lighthouse War, the Erusean Royal Navy captured the naval platforms constructed by the Continental Nations' Economic Alliance and retrofitted them with defensive weaponry. Using Snider's Top as a base, they deployed supply platforms to support their efforts in order to prevent the Osean forces from taking over northern Usea.^[2]

On August 10, 2019, however, an airstrike conducted by the Long Range Strategic Strike Group would sink the Njord Fleet and cripple the platforms, allowing IUN forces to mount a counterattack safely out of the range of the Arsenal Birds.^[3]
