Welcome[edit source]

Hi, welcome to AceWiki! Thanks for your edit to the Project Aces page.

Please leave a message on my talk page if I can help with anything! -- HavocReaper48 (Talk) 20:58, February 19, 2010

Re:Wikitable[edit source]

See my reply?

"Whoa, that's massive coding... just copy and paste the whole thing to here, or simply restore the previous thing? Also, seeing your sandbox, I like the way those planes and such are worked out- this might be a little much, but could you do that with the other AC games as well? HavocReaper48</span 18:51, March 23, 2010 (UTC)"

Missile Counts[edit source]

Please read, what difficulty are you referring to when you made this edit? HavocReaper48</span 18:59, March 24, 2010 (UTC)

I, of course, meant the normal difficulty level, because that is, well, normal. ^^ --Koveras Alvane 19:05, March 24, 2010 (UTC)

Your "Missions" Template[edit source]

Can you change the "summary" part to "Objective:", and make a second place for info below the Obj. called "Mission Update:", for those evil two-part missions? HavocReaper48</span 20:26, March 26, 2010 (UTC)

I can add it as an optional parameter but the "summary" field is really supposed to be used for all objectives in the mission. In other words, just add every objective to the summary in the order they come in. Since by far not all missions feature mission updates, making an extra parameter for them feels redundant to me. --Koveras Alvane 12:46, March 27, 2010 (UTC)

New Template[edit source]

Hey Koveras, could you make a template for battles in the Ace Combat series? ProtoStealth 23:42, April 11, 2010 (UTC)

Uh, y'mean like a modified version of Template:War? HavocReaper'48 23:19, April 11, 2010 (UTC)

Truth-e-luth.ProtoStealth 23:42, April 11, 2010 (UTC)

Actually, we can reuse Template:War for that purpose after I tweak it a little. Wikipedia has Template:Infobox military conflict that works for both wars and individual battles, because they are basically pretty similar in content. I'll see what I can do today. --Koveras Alvane 06:26, April 12, 2010 (UTC)
Alright, check it out. This is how it will look like: Battle of Arlon. I've left a redirect from Template:War on purpose, so we don't have to update all the links and transclusions. --Koveras Alvane 07:48, April 12, 2010 (UTC)
U DAER STEEL MAH "teh bawx" MISPELL'D EIDT SUMMARI??? ...anyway, good job, looks good. Now, are all the battles' articles categorized properly? HavocReaper'48 18:52, April 12, 2010 (UTC)
I think so. Feel free to double-check, though. ^^ As for "teh bawx", teh lolcats knowz no copyrites. :P --Koveras Alvane 19:18, April 12, 2010 (UTC)

Kov, we need your MediaWiki/1337 skills again. Could you please make a locations/cities template? Oh, and a new mission one please; the other one is completely unformatted.

We already have a mission but that's for mission lists... I'll see what I can do. --Koveras Alvane 06:39, April 14, 2010 (UTC)
There you go: teh neu bawx 1 & teh neu bawx 2. --Koveras Alvane 09:50, April 14, 2010 (UTC)

teh neu bawx r nawt need'd?[edit source]

Uh, List of missions in Ace Combat Advance much? HavocReaper'48 18:48, April 14, 2010 (UTC)

Well, there is nothing speaking against having both overview lists of missions for each game and a separate article for each mission. The lists are for general information and navigation, mission articles are for in-depth walkthroughs, tips, and trivia. As for the ACA mission list, unfortunately, I haven't played it so I cannot be of much help. :( --Koveras Alvane 19:19, April 14, 2010 (UTC)
Dude, transfer the data from the articles to the chart...? HavocReaper'48 19:32, April 14, 2010 (UTC)
Don't see a point. From what I gather, the mission pages contain lots of stuff not needed in the overview list (like the plane recommendations), and very little actual summaries. A mission list still needs to be made at some point, but it's a long term objective, while the more immediate one would be to add teh bawx to the articles in the Category:Ace Combat Advance Missions. --Koveras Alvane 19:36, April 14, 2010 (UTC)
U DAER OPPOSE MEH WIT UR FANCY LOGICZ?// Hmm, yeah, I guess, 'till someone here gets ACA. HavocReaper'48 19:50, April 14, 2010 (UTC)

Infobox, Part Deux[edit source]

Requesting support once again, Koveras. Could you please make a vehicle infobox? And a weapon one, too?

I can do it, but I need you to tell me what fields each of them should have. ^^ --Koveras Alvane 06:38, April 28, 2010 (UTC)
Weaponry:
 • Type
 • Aircraft the weapon is compatible with
 • Aprox. range (even if it differs between games)
 • Number carried

Vehicles

 • Operators
 • Weaponry
 • Top speed
 • Uses
I've made the Template:Vehicle, but about the weapons one, I don't know. It seems you mean the weapons carried by aircraft, however, AFAIK, values of every field your requested vary a lot across different AC installments, so packing all of them including these variations into the infobox would literally blow it up. --Koveras Alvane 11:35, April 29, 2010 (UTC)
How so? Instead of simply making an space exclusively for the range in each game, you can simply put them in the same space. Example:
MSSL
Range: 800 (AC4)
8200 (AC5/6)
I just don't see a point. What are you gonna write about in the main article body? --Koveras Alvane 18:19, April 29, 2010 (UTC)
As in?
Well, in the aircraft articles, we have historical information, and in game information, about which aces fly them, etc. Weapons, on the other hand, are so commonplace, that everything relevant to the gameplay of AC games is already stated either in the respective aircraft articles or my aircraft lists. --Koveras Alvane 18:22, April 29, 2010 (UTC)
Ah, silly me, I almost forgot. Could you add a "manufacturer" part to the vehicle infobox?
That's done. ^^ --Koveras Alvane 18:40, April 29, 2010 (UTC)
Thanks a lot, aye. :)
Kov, we need you again, but this time it's off-site: we need a gang template in the Manhunt Wikia, Wikihunt (chainsaw executions FTW). Also, how's the weapons template?
Again, I need exact specifications which fields there should be in the bawx. As for the weapon template, I am not doing it, because I still don't see a point. :) --Koveras Alvane 07:02, May 2, 2010 (UTC)
Of what infobox, exactly?
The gang infobox for the Manhunt Wikia. --Koveras Alvane 06:54, May 4, 2010 (UTC)
Ah. 'Ere 'ey are, mate.
Gang
 • Type
 • Front
 • Businesses
 • Leader
 • Enemies
 • Affiliations

Also, concerning the weapon infobox, by the range part, I mean that it should look like this:

Here you go. And as I said, I'm not doing the weapons template, that's my final answer. :) --Koveras Alvane 06:56, May 5, 2010 (UTC)
How do you want me not to be angry, Kov.
Yeah, yeah, I'm still not doing it, though. %) --Koveras Alvane 19:34, May 5, 2010 (UTC)
*post-foam-at-the-mouth angrish* Hey Kov, remove the Manufacturer part from the Wikihunt Gang template & add a Vehicle part, will ya? And don't forget a weapons part.
It's done. :) --Koveras Alvane 06:54, May 6, 2010 (UTC)

Infobox, Part Trois[edit source]

OK Kov, please make the Super Weapon & Song templates. ProtoStealth 18:15, May 22, 2010 (UTC)

As usual, I need to know which parameters to put into it. ^^ --Koveras Alvane 19:41, May 22, 2010 (UTC)
Here they are.
Song
Super weapon
 • Name
 • Type
 • Games
 • Energy (as in energy employed for firing particular weaponry; e.g. chemical energy for the Excalibur, and movement energy for flying fortresses, e.g. nuclear energy (speculated) for the Aigaion)
 • Armaments
 • Deployment (year, war)
 • Operators
 • Destroyed (date of destruction)

PDQ, Koveras. We need to get ready for Joint Assault, you know.

There you go. :) --Koveras Alvane 14:48, May 25, 2010 (UTC)
You know Alvane, I'm wondering what would we be doing without your help. You've been a great help to us. ProtoStealth 15:04, May 25, 2010 (UTC)
P.S.: It doesn't bother you that I ask for template after template, correct?
I think I can answer your first question: you'd learn to program templates yourself. :D It's no rocket surgery, really, but I am really spoiling your all... As for the second question, no, I don't mind, as long as I agree that the requested templates are necessary. ^^ --Koveras Alvane 18:34, May 25, 2010 (UTC)

Template Trouble[edit source]

Got ourselves a problem here: whenever I add the Song template to an article, the 'plate ends up blank. ProtoStealth 00:58, May 28, 2010 (UTC)

Well, it is supposed to remain blank unless you specify some of the parameters. :) If you do, it should look something like in Emancipation (2001). --Koveras Alvane 08:36, May 28, 2010 (UTC)
Actually, herein lies the problem: I add everything necessary to the template (excluding next & previous songs of the current album), including the correct video input (Video:INSERT NAME HERE, yet it ends up blank. Capishe? ProtoStealth 16:32, May 28, 2010 (UTC)
Can you please save that article with the blank infobox, so I have an error case to work with? ^^ --Koveras Alvane 17:23, May 28, 2010 (UTC)
Thr u go lol ProtoStealth 18:16, May 28, 2010 (UTC)
Well, naturally. It doesn't have any parameters. If you edit the page in plaintext mode, this is the code you'll see:

Sitting Duck is a track of the Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies Official Soundtrack.

The track begins with smooth guitar tones, until harps join in 0:20, followed by synth drums at 31 secs, at which point trumpets
join. At 1:43, the trumpets are replaced by electric guitar, which plays at unison with the harp. At the 2:40 mark, the music
drops the guitar, and at the 3:04, resumes with the tune used at the beginning.

My guess is that you are editing the article in rich-text mode and it doesn't save your parameters for the template. --Koveras Alvane 19:20, May 28, 2010 (UTC)
Ah. Common problem, I guess. Nevertheless, thanks for clarifying this. ProtoStealth 01:02, June 1, 2010 (UTC)
You welcome. :) --Koveras Alvane 15:33, June 1, 2010 (UTC)
Got another problem: I stole some code from Halopedia (or took it as a basis, to be exact) & made a weapons template. Problem is, the template is screwed up. Try to add it to a page & see how it ends up.
Also, inb4ragecuzofunecessarytemplates ProtoStealth 00:04, June 2, 2010 (UTC)
Well, it obviously doesn't work because all it contains is documentation. The actual infobox code is not there. :) Also, you've messed up the <noinclude> tags. :) --Koveras Alvane 21:26, June 3, 2010 (UTC)

Main Page[edit source]

Koveras, this might as well test your MediaWiki skills. We need you to rework the entire coding of the main page, in order to update its appearance. ProtoStealth 18:16, June 17, 2010 (UTC)

What exactly do you want me to do? --Koveras Alvane 19:56, June 17, 2010 (UTC)
Sorry for the delayed response. Basically, I want you to rewrite the main hub's entire coding. It should look like the Blur Wiki's homepage. ProtoStealth 19:21, June 18, 2010 (UTC)
Hm, so you want me to change the design? I can do that, but I am not really a designer. If you could draw what you have in mind (or maybe simply sketch it in MS Word), it'd be a lot of help... --Koveras Alvane 21:02, June 18, 2010 (UTC)
Loo at the given link. Need I say more? ProtoStealth 01:15, June 19, 2010 (UTC)
Yes, you do. :) I could do a similar redesign, but:
 • I don't wanna bother making the imagemap like on that page's content section, so I'll keep our current one.
 • Blur Wiki doesn't have a Featured Article section.
 • Nor a Poll section.
 • Nor a What Is To Do section.
Therefore, I need a precise specification before I write any code. :) --Koveras Alvane 12:43, June 19, 2010 (UTC)

Assistance[edit source]

I was directed to you by Havoc and Proto because I need assistance with making an infobox for the weapons articles I'm getting ready to start on. They said there was already a template started for it, but it only had the parameters and boilerplate (I have no idea what that means). So any help is appreciated. Hitman 2 (radio) 03:17, June 28, 2010 (UTC)

Factions[edit source]

Alright Kov, we need ya again (who woulda guess?). Now we need you to make a Faction template. Specs go here:

 • Name
 • Image
 • Type (e.g. corporation, insurgent group, etc.)
 • Game
 • Era
 • Prominent members

Giddyup, Kov. We need ya. ProtoStealth 04:26, June 28, 2010 (UTC)

There. Sorry it took so long, had things going on IRL. --Koveras Alvane 10:02, July 2, 2010 (UTC)
Don't worry Alvane, it's all cool as long as the templates arrive. What were you doing IRL, anyway? ProtoStealth 17:43, July 2, 2010 (UTC)
Work, boring stuff. What else is there in real life? :D --Koveras Alvane 18:05, July 2, 2010 (UTC)
Hey Kov, please delete the "ImageSize" & "Genre" sections in the Game Info Box Template; they seem useless. ProtoStealth 20:20, July 2, 2010 (UTC)
I removed Genre parameter, but imageSize can become useful eventually, so I let it stay. --Koveras Alvane 10:56, July 3, 2010 (UTC)
New template Kov: could you please redesign the administrator template: it needs to be smaller, and more streamlined. ProtoStealth 20:53, July 3, 2010 (UTC)
Like how? --Koveras Alvane 08:06, July 4, 2010 (UTC)
L4D demonstrates. Finally, something that Francis doesn't hate. We could use that as a basis. Only replace the L4D image with the Project Aces logo that is linked to in my user talk page, and colour the red bar at the side blue. ProtoStealth 16:18, July 4, 2010 (UTC)
Is this good enough? --Koveras Alvane 06:10, July 5, 2010 (UTC)
And cue the 1812 Overture. Perfecto, my man. Now I know why it was a good idea to make you an admin :)ProtoStealth 18:17, July 5, 2010 (UTC)
Again, we need you. Please change the "Aircraft" section of the Military Unit template, because not everyone would drive a Flanker at ground level GTA style just to shoot the enemy, now isn't it? ProtoStealth 19:45, July 9, 2010 (UTC)
Uh, just for the record: you can save me a lot of precious time if you link directly to the template you want to me to modify. As for your actual request, I don't see a reason to change the Aircraft parameter. However, I could add another field for all non-air units, but you have to come up with a name for it (because I'm lazy like that). --Koveras Alvane 20:13, July 9, 2010 (UTC)
U CAN'T TOUCH THIS
Also, add a "Vehicles" parameter for ground forces. ProtoStealth 21:04, July 9, 2010 (UTC)
That's done. :) --Koveras Alvane 12:07, July 10, 2010 (UTC)

Ideaz[edit source]

Hey Kove, long time no talk page bugging, eh? Anyway, I have a new navbox idea: a navbox for aircraft. For example, the "F-__" series featured in AC would be easy to navigate with this template. It just seems kinda fitting seeing our massive aircraft mainspace. I figure I can make the navbox myself, but two questions: what do you think of the idea, and should I make one massive navbox (columns and such to separate the type, I've done stuff like that) or smaller ones for the individual plane series? --HavocReaper'48 01:28, July 6, 2010 (UTC)

Well, since Ace Combat is all about aircraft, you cannot go too wrong with pimping aircraft articles. ^^ I think a navbox is a good idea, however, I have following observations:
 • The F-* series is not actually a single line but aircraft produced by different manufacturers for US military. I think if you make the F-* navbox, you should have separate sections in it for different manufacturers.
 • Also, keep in mind that compared to Sukhoi and MiG planes, the F-* navbox will be huge. But I guess it's OK so.
 • You have to decide what to do with F/A-* aircraft, too.
 • As an advice: don't lump real and fictional planes (e.g.F-22A Raptor and F-22C Raptor II) in a single template. At least separate them into different sections.
This are just a few off the top of my head. Also, I would recommend that you look over our Category:Aircraft and group the planes by line/manufacturer and post it in your personal sandbox, so I can help you further... --Koveras Alvane 06:31, July 6, 2010 (UTC)
F/A is "Fighter & Attacker", right? It's still a fighter aircraft, so I figure they should go on the F-* template (and A-* template). They could go in a "Fighter-Attacker" section. I also see you point, the original aircraft get their own thing. Sound good? --HavocReaper'48 15:13, July 10, 2010 (UTC)
Yup, go for it. ^^ --Koveras Alvane 17:41, July 10, 2010 (UTC)

Alrighty: User:HavocReaper48/Sandbawx. I didn't put in the links yet, but what do ya think? --HavocReaper'48 15:36, July 12, 2010 (UTC)

Looks good, though I would put the F/A planes between McDonnell and Fictional, since F-* is in the title, so it should come first... Also, I will tinker a bit with the styles and spacing after you post it to the Template namespace. --Koveras Alvane 15:41, July 12, 2010 (UTC)
Template:F-Navbox. Knock yourself out. --HavocReaper'48 22:04, July 12, 2010 (UTC)
Tweaked the styles, tell me if it's OK so. Also, noticed some errors in the aircraft lists (e.g. F-22 is listed twice). By which attribute did you sort them? --Koveras Alvane 15:45, July 13, 2010 (UTC)

AC:X aces/star unit locations list[edit source]

Hi therei was wondering if a template would be needed for the list me and Grabacr 1 are doing its still needs tidy up and stuff but its nearly finished, well this is the link to it :

AC:X aces/star unit locations list

just contact me on the blog or talk page and i will get to you ASAP (midsummersnow) R.P.H.P. 13:19, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

Well, I don't think you need a template for that, just use following code for each mission:
Mission XY: Mission Title
Ace Unit: Ace unit name
:Explanation how to spawn the ace unit.

Star Unit: Star unit name
:Explanation how to spawn the star unit.
That should give the list a nice, formatted look IMO. --Koveras Alvane 16:22, July 9, 2010 (UTC)
Could you look at this page for me and tell me whats wrong with it? mind you though its my first page what iv desgined by my self so go easy on me kay!
here is the link: Ace Combat X Skies of Deception: Ace/Star unit locations Hochsommerschnee 13:33, July 13, 2010 (UTC)
Well, yeah, your formatting was all messed up. ^^; But I fixed it now. This is what my proposal above was supposed to look like... --Koveras Alvane 15:34, July 13, 2010 (UTC)
Sorry about the trouble and it looks way better than my version of it where should the link go? or should i leave that up to you? Hochsommerschnee 08:12, July 14, 2010 (UTC)
No problem. :) As for the location, just move it to List of Ace and Star units in Ace Combat X, or something. --Koveras Alvane 11:23, July 14, 2010 (UTC)

AC:X aircraft stat list:[edit source]

ill be compiling the list of all aircraft stats ill start as soon as iv thought of a way calculating thier stats.

here is the math on how to work out the stats of each aircraft:

each stat bar is 1.65 cm (est.) on the screen so dividing that by 10 equals 0.165 cm (est.) so with that and a ruler you can mearsure the stats

here is an EG>:

F-4E:

SPEED: 1.10cm divide by 0.165cm = 6.666 so take away the last two digts and you get the stat which is 6.6 = 66 so the speed stat is (66 out of 100)

ATA: 0.85cm divide by 0.165cm = 5.151 /> 5.1 = (51 / 100)

ATG: 0.25cm divide by 0.165cm = 1.515 /> 1.5 = (15 / 100)

MOB: 0.5cm divide by 0.165cm = 3.030 /> 3.0 = (30 / 100)

STAB: 0.65cm divide by 0.165cm = 3.939 /> 3.9 = (39 / 100)

DEF: 0.75cm divide by 0.165cm = 4.545 /> 4.5 = (45 / 100)

this can be applied to other stat bars for EG: weapons and parts

please it would be helpful if some one could confirm this math for me.

R.P.H.P. 12:10, July 10, 2010 (UTC)

I'd recommend using some spreadsheet software with math functions (MS Excel, OpenOffice Calc, GoogleDocs Spreadsheet, etc.), because human calculations are always prone to errors. Also, this FAQ seems to have the same numbers as you (at least, for F-4E), albeit on a 10/10 scale, rather than your 100/100. You could use that one for cross-referencing. --Koveras Alvane 12:18, July 10, 2010 (UTC)

hi iv compiled the stats of all the aircraft and i was wondering if you could do a table like the AC:4 one it will have to have big enough for all 40 aircraft all weapons paint schemes and prices etc all you have to do is design the table ill will fill in all the info Hochsommerschnee 09:38, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

OK, I've made a table with what data I had here, you can correct/add numbers to it now. Sorry, I have no data whatsoever on how to unlock special paints... --Koveras Alvane 18:36, July 22, 2010 (UTC)
its great thanks havoc reaper will be happy too i will get working on the stat etc in abit but the problm is i cant remember how to get most of the paints :? Hochsommerschnee 08:05, July 23, 2010 (UTC)
It's not a problem at all. Just add what you can and someone else will eventually add the missing pieces. There's no deadline, that's how wiki works. ^^ --Koveras Alvane 14:24, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

Forums[edit source]

I know you probably have a lot to do already but I need some help. The forums aren't working correctly. When you create a new thread, it doesn't get listed under the forum's list of threads. I suspect this has something to do with the lack of forum headers and categories for the threads. Do you know if this is what the problem is? Mobius 2 (radio) 04:22, July 16, 2010 (UTC)

Sorry, I don't know anything about forums here because they are not a default module of MediaWiki engine... You will have to contact Wikia staff about it. :( --Koveras Alvane 07:58, July 16, 2010 (UTC)

Userboxes[edit source]

Remember the good ole days of buggering, camarada? Well, we need you again: I need you to design userboxes to denote a user's Acepedia allegiance for the upcoming "Acepedia:Usergroups" idea. Example: Oseans of Acepedia, Mercenaries of Acepedia, Belkans of Acepedia, and so on & so forth. This is the estimated list of usergroups, and their designs, alongside a message indicating their status, and the emblem:

 • Oseans of Acepedia: White w/ Blue outline, This user is a member of the Oseans of Acepedia, Osean flag
 • Belkans of Acepedia: White w/ Yellow outline, This user is a member of the Oseans of Acepedia, Belkan flag
 • Ustians of Acepedia: White w/ Red outline, This user is a member of the Ustians of Acepedia, Ustian flag
 • Estovakians of Acepedia: Red w/ Black outline, This user is a member of the Estovakians of Acepedia, Stovie flag
 • Useans of Acepedia: Blue w/ Black outline, This user is a member of the Useans/ISAF of Acepedia, ISAF logo
 • 'Emmerians of A'cepedia: Blue w/ White outline, This user is a member of the Emmerians of Acepedia, Emmerian emblem
 • Eruseans of Acepedia: Orange w/ White outline, This user is a member of the Eruseans of Acepedia, Erusean emblem
 • Sapinians of Acepedia: Red w/ Yellow outline, This user is a member of the Sapinians of Acepedia, Sapin flag
 • Yuktobanians of Acepedia: Ditto, This user is a member of the Yuktobanians of Acepedia, Yuke flag
 • Aurelians of Acepedia: White & solid/dark blue outline, This user is a member of the Aurelians of Acepedia, Aurelian emblem

Dude proto you have made a mistake the belkan bit read it again....Hochsommerschnee 08:22, July 20, 2010 (UTC)

I programmed you a template-template called Template:Userbox, which is can be used for creating further templates. I also made you an example of how to use it in Template:Userbox Belkan. You can do the rest yourself. :P Basically, create Template:Userbox Osean, Template:Userbox Yuktobanian, etc., copy the code from Belkan userbox and adapt it accordingly. Should be simple. :) --Koveras Alvane 08:43, July 20, 2010 (UTC)

It does work as far as I can see... --Koveras Alvane 20:36, July 20, 2010 (UTC)

Fires of Liberation DLC[edit source]

Alright Koveras, we're gonna need you again. Perhaps you can make a template for the DLC aircraft included in Fires of Liberation? We gotta have to update ourselves, you know.

TL,DR DE PEDIA WILL RISE AGAIN, MON ProtoStealth 06:12, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

What kind of template do you need, navbox/infobox/other? --Koveras Alvane 06:30, July 22, 2010 (UTC)
Go crazy with the navbox. Separate it into The iDOLM@STER (the strategist man's Vocaloid), Other Games & Miscellaneous. Speaking of The Idolmaster, I'd kill to see a Miku Hatsune CFA-44 in Xbox Live. Infobox stats comin' soon. ProtoStealth 20:21, July 22, 2010 (UTC)

I noticed that you changed the column order in the list of ACX aircraft (the stats). I do know that the stats are given in that order in the game itself, but for the purpose of consistency with other aircraft lists on this wiki, please stick to the column order I originally created... --Koveras Alvane 14:40, July 23, 2010 (UTC)
so did you like the legend of razgriz textpicture then tell me what you think of it Hochsommerschnee 14:36, July 23, 2010 (UTC)
I did, though I fail to see the purpose of it. :) Posting text into a picture is not a very efficient way to store it. It cannot be indexed by web search engines, can't be copied from browser, etc. Besides, the picture on top of it is the same as in the Razgriz Squadron logo... --Koveras Alvane 14:40, July 23, 2010 (UTC)

 • Previous mission
 • Next mission
 • Mission name/number
 • Game
 • Player character
 • Location
 • Date
 • Allies (player faction and AI allied factions)
 • Enemies (main enemy factions and whoever joins up with thwm)
 • Objective
 • Ally vehicles
 • Enemy vehicles (ONLY mission-important ones, ie. targets)

I don't think it needs a template, but a table, sure. Something along the lines of:

POW MOB STA WEI DEF Misc SPD MOB STA DEF
Turbo Engine Up +5 -5 +0 +0 4,200
A versatile engine with increased power output.
Light Engine Up Down Down +5 +10 +5 -10 6,800
Completely weight trimmed engine.
Uranus Engine Up Deceive MSSL -5 +10 +0 +0 30,000

Ack, just tried it out and already dislike it, too. First, it hard-limits the article width to 1000px, but even worse, the navigation bars on the right take up another whopping third of those 1000px. And they are, what, 500px long? The actual article is squeezed into 700px width, which is barely over the half of my screen, whereas the other half is mostly empty. I mean, c'mon, Wikia, do I come here to view the bars and empty spaces, or do I want to read the articles? *shudders* OK, back to the Monobook skin... Truly, a better wiki skin is yet to be invented. --Koveras Alvane 08:48, October 23, 2010 (UTC)

Game Infobox[edit source]

'ello one again, tovarisch. Just a heads-up: during editing, nearly all spaces in the Game Infobox (INFOBOX, not INFO BOX) template are duplicated. Plz fix :D ProtoStealth 04:56, June 8, 2011 (UTC)

If that's what I think it is (your description is a bit vague; next time, provide a link to an edit diff of the effect), then it's the wiki engine problem, not the template's. If you use the New Wikia Look skin, it doesn't very much like multiline templates and gets confused. It also automatically adds lots of unnecessary tags to images linked from a template, and the only solution I know is to use the classic Monobook skin. --Koveras Alvane 08:10, June 8, 2011 (UTC)

Sorry, not interested. Protip: When inviting someone to work on a wiki next time, describe what said wiki is about first. Just the name is not sufficient to spark any interest. --Koveras Alvane 08:03, June 9, 2011 (UTC)
You get to make your own squadron out of the users that come on and you get to talk and chat with friends plus I'll allow ace combat wikia to be advertised on my wikia. and you get to make articles about all the jet fighters that exist. At least check out the site.Nightwolf1 08:13, June 9, 2011 (UTC)
Still not interested. A wiki is a collaborative, informative project, not a social network IMO. :) Also, protip #2: When inviting someone to a website, provide a direct link to it. --Koveras Alvane 10:12, June 9, 2011 (UTC)

May I have your permission?[edit source]

Dear Koveras Alvane

I would like to ask your permission of one last chane to the Missions list of Ace Combat Zero. In the Mission title Offensive Campign No.4101 I linked it to the paged titled Offensive Campign No.4101 but I do belive that it would be better for readers if the link was instead the page titled Battle of the Futuro Canal may I please have your permission to change the link please?

From Privatesteverogers

You mean Offensive Campaign No. 4101 and Battle of Futuro Canal? How come we have two pages about the same thing. -__- Yeah, you can edit it, I have nothing against that, only against overlinking (that is, linking to, say, Futuro Canal both from the Location field and from the mission name). While you are on it, can you please merge the Offensive Campaign No. 4101 article into Battle of Futuro Canal and make it a redirect? Just to avoid future confusion... --Koveras Alvane 18:56, August 14, 2011 (UTC)
Dear Koveras Alvane
Thank you so much for allowing me to make the edit. I never knew the meaning of overlinking until just now. I always thought that it meant to but to many links on one page whcih is something I never could understand why anyone would be against because it allows the reader to find quick information. The only reason I overlinked in the first place was because I could not find the pages that realted to the mission and used their locations. Finally someone explained it to me! Now that I know I will make sure that it will nt happen agian. Has for the redirection of the pages Offensive Campaign No. 4101 and Battle of Futuro Canal may you plaese explain to me how I can make this possible?
From privatesteverogers
If you didn't know the meaning, you should have just asked me--that's the first thing you do when someone reverts your edits. No shame in not knowing. -__- I also find links generally helpful but I am against linking the same article from different points because it gives the reader the false impression that they are going to learn something new by clicking on two seemingly different links. If you can't find a corresponding article, the best thing you can do is start it yourself. :)
Now, as for merging two articles, basically, what you do is copy all relevant information from the article being merged (in this case, Offensive Campaign No. 4101) to the target article (in this case, Battle of Futuro Canal), then replace the contents of the former with following code: "#REDIRECT Target page name" (in this case: #REDIRECT Battle of Futuro Canal). This will automatically redirect anyone who opens the old merged page to the new target page. I have done it in this case, but now you know how it's done, too. --Koveras Alvane 06:04, August 16, 2011 (UTC)

Dear Koveras Alvane

Thank you for the helpful information. May you please explain to me how I can add a picture onto a wiki page?

From privatesteverogers

Well, if you are using the default Wikia interface (which I assume you do), you just use the "Add photo" button in the editing toolbar when editing an article. It lets you either upload a new file or pick an already uploaded image and automatically adds it to the article. If you are using the classic Monobook skin, like myself, you first have to upload the image to the wiki. To do that, go to Special:Upload, select some file and upload it. This will create a page called "File:Your filename.jpg" or something along the lines. Then you go to the article you want to add it to and add "" to where the image should appear. Then just save the article and it will be there. :) --Koveras Alvane 11:01, August 20, 2011 (UTC)

Thanks[edit source]

thanks for the welcome

Heh, you welcome. However, I am afraid to say that I didn't welcome you personally. Instead, the Wikia engine automatically posted a welcome message onto your talk page as soon as you made an edit, and this message was signed with the name of the last local admin who made an edit, which in your case happened to be me. ^^; --Koveras Alvane 16:39, September 17, 2011 (UTC)

questions[edit source]

how does a fighter get classed as a mutli role "thecipher32"

You mean, IRL? I think it depends on its parameters and whether it can carry both anti-air and air-to-ground ordnance. --Koveras Alvane 14:32, October 18, 2011 (UTC)

Aircraft Template Change[edit source]

Hey sir! Just advising you that I went ahead and modified the template. Obviously someone had been messing around with it maybe? Re: Are you OK?[edit source]

Sorry for not answering right away, Alvane. I nearly forgot to reply. In case you ask, yes, I'm alright, no need to worry. Now, for the most important bit: I didn't tell you about my reformat plan. I want to make the formatting of weapon and articraft articles to look like that of the Call of Duty/Battlefield wikis. I assume you're gonna argue against my plan? ProtoStealth 05:06, November 17, 2011 (UTC)

With separate infoboxes in every game? Well, I can see it work, but have you talked it through with other admins? ...wait, if you haven't even told me, then it's probably a no. :D Well, good luck reprogramming those templates. :3 --Koveras Alvane 06:25, November 17, 2011 (UTC)
Separate infoboxes, indeed. I've spoken about this with the other guys in Facebook, and they agree. You're going to refuse to reprogram the template yourself, right? ProtoStealth 00:29, November 18, 2011 (UTC)
Yup, if only because the reformat plan wasn't talked through with me beforehand. :) --Koveras Alvane 11:47, November 18, 2011 (UTC)

Licensing templates[edit source]

Hallo, Koveras. Long time no see! Anyway, I'm going to need your help once more. I know I should have done this a year ago, but I need you to create image licensing templates. I require you to create licensing templates as seen here. Click on the drop-down Licensing menu. Thanks for the help. Your friend, ProtoStealth 02:17, December 14, 2011 (UTC)

Hmmm, I don't think licensing templates have particularly intricate coding. I am pretty sure you can just copy them over the BF wiki. Have you tried doing that? ^^; --Koveras Alvane 07:01, December 14, 2011 (UTC)
So does this mean I'm going have to find all my ingame AC3 and AC2 pics on this wiki and slap copyright stuff on them? --Midsummersnow
Well, in the long run, yes, you will have to. :) --Koveras Alvane 15:37, December 14, 2011 (UTC)
Alright Kov, the templates are finished. I just checked them all: no coding problems. One small "<noinclude>" problem was found, yet it was nothing big and was quickly fixed. Now, can I ask you to redesign the Aircraft template? Here's the requires fields if you're interested.
 • article title (space best coloured black/olive drab)
 • Type (attacker, bomber, fighter, etc.)
 • Unlocked at (circumstances under which the plane is unlocked)
 • Statistics
 • Weapons
 • Aces (ace pilots, ie. Kwee, Zipang, Oryol, Phoenix)
 • Users (small faction icon followed by faction name's abbreviation, ie. Fed. Erusean Navy to FEN)
Now that I'm at this, some advice on infoboxes: whenever I try to list things with the little *, the first item in the list appears with the * intact, while the others appear in a list. Example:
* Aircraft
 • AAAAAA
 • BBBBB
Not the best example, but I tried. Your comrade, PROTOSTEALTH 23:50, December 15, 2011 (UTC)
About the aircraft redesign... You basically want to put the entire content of old aircraft articles into the infobox, right? ^^;
As for the asterisks, it's a known effect, has to do with how MediaWiki parses tables and lists. Basically, if you add the list into the template like this:
|list= * item
* item
the first asterisk will not appear as the first symbol of the line when translated into the table code. Thus, to make it parse as a list, you have to use following notation:
|list=
* item
* item
This way, all asterisks will be found at the beginning of the line and translated into list items. The empty line on top of that, will be ignored. --Koveras Alvane 08:54, December 16, 2011 (UTC)
Care to explain? --PROTOSTEALTH 15:35, December 16, 2011 (UTC)
Explain what exactly? ^^; --Koveras Alvane 19:15, December 16, 2011 (UTC)
...you know what, disregard my question. Can you please go on and redo the template? Thanks. --PROTOSTEALTH 22:26, December 16, 2011 (UTC)
Hmmmm, I can put it on my to-do list, but I don't know when I will get to it... Or you can try it yourself. ;) --Koveras Alvane 08:31, December 17, 2011 (UTC)
I'll give it a shot if yeah want. I know my way around the templates. If you give me go ahead should I create a new template altogether or just recycle the old one? Midsummersnow 10:15, December 17, 2011 (UTC)
Scrap that I decided to do it, here is the link if you want to check the coding or revert it back Kove: Midsummersnow 10:41, December 17, 2011 (UTC)
Can you make the general template space gray? As well, can you make the article/weapon name area black with white text? For an example, see here. --PROTOSTEALTH 17:25, December 17, 2011 (UTC)
