The Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty (CTBT) was a Strangereal treaty that promoted nuclear nonproliferation, preventing any further spread of nuclear weapons.[1]
History
The CTBT's full history is unknown. It most likely came about after the detonation of seven nuclear devices in Belka in June 1995.
By 2008, the CTBT had not yet gone into full effect, though nonproliferation efforts were continuing worldwide.[1]
Trivia
- The CTBT is modeled after the real-life Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty, which bans all nuclear explosions worldwide without exception. It was signed by the United Nations in September 1996 but has yet to be ratified by all UN member states.
