309 Squadron
The 309 Squadron, referred to as JASDF309 in shorthand, is a defense squadron under the JASDF. They mainly operate out of Tokyo, Japan.
History
It is unknown when JASDF309 was formed, but they continued operations until at least 2019.
During the Sons of Troia insurgency, the squadron was tasked with defending the UNF Pacific Fleet as they left Tokyo for an undisclosed location, but their mission was changed at the last minute when multiple MQ-90 Quox UAVs entered the airspace, some equipped with weapons. Prior to their sortie, the HQ of JASDF told the squadron to expect mercenary squadrons from Arrows Air Defense and Security, who were also tasked to participate in the operation. Reaper and Omega from the Bone Arrow Squadron were sent in to assist with the operation. After receiving Bone Arrow's ID, the 309 Squadron worked together with them to destroy all of the UAVs.[1]
During the UAV encounter, the JASDF pilots identified the Quox drones, but dismissed them as a possible close resemblance.[1]
JASDF309 was deployed once more during Operation Override, to help reclaim Tokyo from the USEA Federation's armed forces that had captured the city. They fought alongside Bone Arrow Squadron once more, as well as Ridgeback Squadron.[2]
Their fate is unclear following this operation. It is not known if they were assimilated into Task Force 118.
