Surveillant

Surveillance ships or Surveillants as referred to in Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War, are ships used for reconnaissance purposes. They are used predominantly in support-roles, for special missions, or spy and recon.

Surveillance ships were used by the Yuktobanian Navy to spy on Sand Island during the Circum-Pacific War.

Trivia

• Contrary to reality, where it is strictly a special-ops/spy vessel, in-game, it is depicted not only having been responsible for launching Searcher Mk. II UAVs for its spy duties, but later firing an SAM at Kei Nagase and Jack Bartlett, shooting down the latter's F-4G in the process.
• The variant depicted in Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War seems to be modeled after the USNS Victorious or USNS Impeccable.
• Despite being a hostile, attacking it in Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War is forbidden, as doing so will fail the mission.
