A fuel tank is an immobile container designed to hold liquid fuel. Large manufactured fuel tanks have appeared as optional ground targets in Ace Combat.

Types

"Fuel tank" is a general term for a container carrying any type of liquid fuel (as opposed to fuel gas, which is stored in gas tanks). Fuel tanks that contain oil are specifically referred to as oil tanks.

Aircraft carry small onboard fuel tanks to power their engines. Drop tanks can be used to add additional fuel reserves. Some aircraft, including the F/A-18F Super Hornet Block III and the F-2A -Super Kai-, have additional fuel tanks fitted closely to the aircraft's profile, referred to as conformal fuel tanks.

Aircraft and other vehicles that are designed to transport large amounts of fuel are called tankers.
