Template:Cite book/doc

This is a documentation page for Template:Cite book.

This template is used to standardize citations to a published book source. It should be used within <ref></ref> tags.

Usage

The basic formatting with only the required parameter is as follows:

The full template with all possible parameters is as follows:

{{Cite book|author= |date= |title= |edition= |publisher= |page/pages= |isbn= }}

Create a citation to any published book source.

Template parameters
This template prefers inline formatting of parameters.
Parameter		Description	Type	Status
Author	`author`	The author of the book; if multiple, separate with semicolons Example LastName, FirstName	String	optional
Publication Date	`date`	The date the book was published Example 1 January 2000	String	optional
Title	`title`	The title of the book, which will be italicized; add a link if it has a page on this wiki	String	required
Edition	`edition`	The edition of the book, which will be suffixed with "ed."	String	optional
Publisher	`publisher`	The book's publisher; add a link if it has a page on this wiki	String	optional
Page Number	`page`	The page number where the reference points to; use "pages" instead if multiple pages are involved	String	optional
Page Numbers	`pages`	The page numbers where the reference points to, separated by endash (–); use "page" instead if only one page is involved	String	optional
ISBN	`isbn`	The book's ISBN	String	optional
