The Rán Fleet was the Erusean Royal Navy's reserve fleet.[1] Following the loss of the Njord Fleet and the defection of the Alicorn at the height of the Lighthouse War, Erusea began gathering its remaining ships and assembled the Rán Fleet to bolster their naval power. However, the entire fleet was destroyed during an Osean raid carried out by the Long Range Strategic Strike Group.[2]

Etymology

In Norse mythology, Rán is the goddess and personification of the sea. She is known for having nine daughters with the jötunn Ægir, whose name served as the origin of the Aegir Fleet from Ace Combat 04: Shattered Skies. One of these daughters is named Kólga ("cool-wave"), which was the name of a cruiser in the Aegir Fleet.

History

After the submersible aviation cruiser Alicorn was recovered from the seafloor in the year 2018, it was transferred to the Rán Fleet's Special Combat Ship Unit.[1]

Following the defection of Captain Matias Torres and the Alicorn on September 4, 2019,[3] the Erusean Royal Navy began gathering nearby ships at Anchorhead Bay under the Rán Fleet's banner.[2]

On September 10, the Long Range Strategic Strike Group carried out a raid on Anchorhead and sunk the vessels stationed there. The remaining vessels from the fleet arrived soon afterward to defend the port, but were also sunk. The loss of the Rán Fleet and its commanding officers was a crippling blow to the Erusean Royal Navy,[2] and outside of a few vessels present during Osea's siege of Farbanti, the Erusean Navy was never able to muster any significant strength for the remainder of the war.[4]
