CFA-44 -PROTOTYPE-
- "Prototype Aircraft. The stability of this aircraft has taken precedence over other design elements to facilitate a battle deployed EML system. The fully maximized striking power of the EML makes up for any inherent disadvantages in dogfighting capabilities. A variety of additional customizations were carried out at the hand of ace pilot Ilya Pasternak."
- ― Official description
The CFA-44 -PROTOTYPE- is the first downloadable variant of the CFA-44 Nosferatu, introduced in Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation. It was released with PACK #04 in late January 2008, at the price of $2.49 (200 MSP, pre-MSP retirement).
Overview
The PROTOTYPE is the first download variant of the CFA-44, and the first of the three before the "RAZGRIZ" and "ACES" versions. The Nosferatu has a dual-tone "experimental" livery, having a shade of white covering most of the aircraft's rear and middle section and a purple-colored frontal section. The tail code "AI 01" is present in the tail area, and the word "NAVY" is displayed in the right wing.
In performance, it is vastly different from the standard Nosferatu. The PROTOTYPE is much less maneuverable and slower, but in exchange receives an important boost in air-to-ground combat and is much more stable, the latter upgrade of which is intended to assist the pilot in using the Electromagnetic Launcher. In addition, the upgrade in stability also solves the High-G locking problem that plagued the original version.

Trivia
- The livery of the PROTOTYPE was reused in Ace Combat: Assault Horizon and Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown (without Estovakian Navy's markings) as the Color 3 pattern of the Nosferatu. It also appears in Ace Combat Infinity, in a slightly modified manner, as the color of the QFA-44 Carmilla.
