Biography
Bandai Namco
Itomi joined Namco sometime before 1998, as he is listed in the credits for R4: Ridge Racer Type 4.[1] His first contribution to the Ace Combat franchise was Ace Combat 3: Electrosphere, on which he served as an editor. He later joined the Project Aces team and became the cinematic director, a designer for the briefing cinematics, 2D compositor, and a storyboard artist for 2004's Ace Combat 5: The Unsung War.[2]
Itomi subsequently became the director, screenwriter, and art director for Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War. Due to the rushed nature of Ace Combat Zero's development, Itomi found himself in the role of screenwriter, as there was nobody else to fill the position.[3] Itomi completed the first outlines of the game's plot in three days, before refining the script and allowing several other members of the team to input their own ideas. He also pushed heavily for the use of live-action interview cutscenes during the game's development, along with suggesting the use of Spanish guitar and flamenco for the game's soundtrack.[3]
Around the same time as his work on Ace Combat Zero, he served as an editor on the trailer for Ace Combat X: Skies of Deception, then directed the trailers for Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation and Ace Combat: Joint Assault, serving as a member of the former's QA team. He directed the trailers for Ace Combat: Assault Horizon, serving as the game's visual art director and as a concept artist and storyboard artist. Itomi was also the screenwriter and art director for Ace Combat Infinity, directing the game's trailers.[2]
His latest contribution to the series was as the narrative director for 2019's Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown.[2]
