Little is known regarding the Supreme Commander's life prior to the outbreak of the continental war. It is presumed that he joined the military at a relatively young age and gradually rose through the ranks, eventually achieving the position of Supreme Commander; whether he achieved this title solely through rank-promotion or appointment by the Erusean Parliament remains unknown.

Exactly when he rose to this rank is also unknown; however, it is presumed that he held the rank of Supreme Commander for the duration of the continental war. It is also possible that he was advised by other high-ranking officers from each branch of the Erusean military.[2]

In the aftermath of the Ulysses planetfall in 1999, the Supreme Commander witnessed the massive influx of foreigners into his country, which had already suffered tremendously during the impact; Ulysses had left the nation's economy in shambles, and the loss of infrastructure was costly. By 2003, xenophobia and nationalism were pillars of the Erusean government's policies, and in April, Erusea sealed its borders.[3]

The Supreme Commander stationed Erusean forces along the nation's eastern borders to protect the country from foreign retaliation and keep non-Eruseans out.[citation needed] On the west coast, the Erusean Navy was mustering at port, ready to guard Erusea's waters.[citation needed] In lieu of military action, the Central Usea Treaty Organization sanctioned tariffs on Erusean exports; the already weakened Erusean economy nearly collapsed.[citation needed] In August, after three months of extreme pressure from the Usean international community, the order was made to annex San Salvacion and acquire Stonehenge.[citation needed]

Continental War

Early victories

After the newly formed ISAF's failed attempt to destroy the STN, the Supreme Commander authorized the modified weapon to fire on ISAF forces during future engagements. The Federal Erusea Air Force consequently rules the skies over the mainland, forcing the ISAF into retreat to the east. The Eruseans, supported by Stonehenge, moved eastward and seized ISAF's Istas Fortress stronghold.

Under the Supreme Commander's direction, Erusean troops advanced on all fronts, scoring critical victories and capturing vital ISAF facilities throughout the mainland. Defensive fortifications were constructed along beaches, cementing Erusea's hold on the continent. This blitz would eventually force the ISAF to evacuate the mainland altogether.[2] With victory all but assured, the Supreme Commander forward deployed bombers to strike ISAF's new GHQ at North Point.[4]

Erusean defeats

Starting in September 2004, the ISAF began raiding Erusea's easternmost outposts, scoring several small victories which gradually turned the tide of the war in the ISAF's favor. By January 2005, Erusea had lost its "invicible" Aegir Fleet[5] and now found itself on the defensive against a large-scale ISAF counteroffensive.[6] Throughout 2005, the ISAF pilots inflicted considerable damage on the Erusean ground and air forces. Despite ordering volleys from Stonehenge to wipe out the ISAF fighters, Erusea's "Tango Line" defensive line collapsed when ISAF reclaimed Istas Fortress and Los Canas.[7]

On April 2, 2005, Erusea lost the Stonehenge railgun cannons.[8] The defeat marked another turning point in the war and would eventually foreshadow Erusea's inevitable defeat. At some point following the loss of the STN, the Supreme Commander approved the completion and activation of the partially constructed Megalith missile-launch facility. If the new superweapon could be completed before Erusea's total defeat, it could be used to inflict catastrophic damage on the ISAF and completely reverse the balance of power in Usea.[9]

The Supreme Commander continued to order his forces into retreat: a second ISAF landing operation in the north had driven Erusea's northern divisions southward,[10] and a push by the ISAF's southern forces was getting within striking distance of the occupied San Salvacion capital. In July, the local resistance conspired against the Erusean occupation and ended the city's defensive blackout, allowing ISAF forces to storm the city and force the battered Eruseans out of the capital.[11]

With air superiority favoring ISAF, the Supreme Commander ordered his beleaguered army into retreat and defensively positioned it across the Whiskey Corridor between the Lambert and Amber Mountains. This strategic bottleneck would form Erusea's final line of defense before its capital, Farbanti. The Supreme Commander deployed a large number of his remaining tank divisions to blockade the corridor, which were ultimately lost to ISAF's veteran fighter pilots.[12] The Erusean military's last hope had been broken, and it fell back to Farbanti; the final stand for Erusea would take place in the capital.

Death

On September 19, 2005, the ISAF laid siege to the Eruseans' capital. From their GHQ on Farbanti's southern coast, the Supreme Commander and the rest of Erusea's high command directed their remaining defensive forces. The ISAF quickly gained the upper hand by cutting off Erusea's reinforcements north of Johnson Memorial Bridge. Through intense urban combat, Allied tank battalions slowly overran the Eruseans' defensive positions and advanced towards the GHQ.[1]

Fearing capture and prosecution by the ISAF, the Supreme Commander attempted to get his family out from the GHQ's underground shelter as other high-level officers boarded helicopters and tried to flee the fallen capital. Shortly after ISAF secured Erusea's GHQ, an ISAF patrol unit discovered his lifeless body inside a V-22 that had failed to take off with the others. The circumstances surrounding his death remain unknown.[1]
