Desert Dawn is the sixth mission of Ace Combat: Joint Assault.

Plot[edit | edit source]

Rigel Squadron's treason has spoiled reputation of the Martinez Security. But MS was given a chance to clear that stain as part of the IUPF (International Union Peacekeeping Force). As members of the IUPF, Antares Squadron went in pursuit of the Valahia in Egypt. After the retreat from Tokyo, the aerial base "Spiridus" had been sighted in Egypt. During the search, a Valahia base was located along the Nile. Their forces are mainly ground based with no sign of the Spiridus in the vicinity. Antares Squadron must wipe out the enemy base.

Briefing[edit | edit source]

Burford: I'm sure you are tired from the long journey, but there's no time to rest. Listen up. As members of the International Union Peacekeeping Force, we're in pursuit of the Valahia in Egypt. Our experience in fighting the Valahia got us here, but those turncoats in the previous op are an issue. You need to fly your best in order to clear that stain from our name. Do your very best on this mission. "Spiridus", the aerial base we encountered over Tokyo, has been sighted here in Egypt. During the search, a Valahia base was located along the Nile. Their forces are mainly ground based with no sign of the Spiridus in the vicinity. Antares squadron is to enter the operation zone and wipe out the enemy base. Dismissed!

Objectives[edit | edit source]

The mission is almost entirely comprised of ground targets, with the only aerial presence being helicopters. After eliminating a small enemy convoy, a group of vehicles will appear near the ruins. The ruins provide partial cover for some of the vehicles, so the player may need to approach from a different direction to get a clean shot. Afterwards, another group of vehicles will appear around a pyramid complex. The same strategy from previously still applies, albeit now with the addition of pyramids providing cover. Once they've been dealt with, the missile alarm will ring and four missiles will fly towards the player but they can be easily dodged. Two silos on will then be marked as targets and they are protected by several AA weapons. Destroy the silos to complete the mission.

The S-Rank is achieved if the mission is cleared within less than 4 minutes 30 seconds.

Debriefing[edit | edit source]

Burford: Excellent work destroying the enemy base. The Spiridus fled to the Middle East. The Valahia insurgence into Africa is likely halted. Allies are in pursuit and should report soon. The IUPF has also received new operations. You've only got a short break, so make the most of it. You're dismissed.
