Challenge Event

On August 11, 2014, Project Aces announced limited-time challenge events for Ace Combat Infinity. Similar to Ranking Tournaments, they would only occur for a few days and the rewards would not be available following the event's end; however, instead of competing with other users to get the most points, players only have to complete a specific challenge to earn a reward. To earn all of the event's rewards, challenges must be completed one after the other in a specific order.

"To commemorate the 20th anniversary of the ACE COMBAT series, we've prepared a series of special skins featuring designs based on the original "ACE COMBAT!""

― Description of all challenges

To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the series, a double set of challenges were released for certain fighter aircraft featuring Phoenix's skin from Air Combat. Each aircraft was given two challenges: one for the original skin, and one for a purple/black variant of the original skin. The second challenge would be available after completing the first. This Challenge Event took place between June 30, 2015 at 4 AM GMT through August 3, 2015 at 8 AM GMT.

All of these challenges were immediately available when the event started. Special Aircraft were allowed for all of them. Each challenge awarded the respective aircraft's "AC" Skin #01 as well as 20,000 credits.

February 2015 (Special Supply)

Following the iDOLM@STER event, the same Challenge Event that took place in January 2015 was repeated from February 16 through March 3, 2014, with all of the challenges reappearing to allow players to earn more Special Supply tickets.

However, when the event started, any challenges that awarded 20 or 15 tickets were available to be completed only once, and anyone who completed those challenges in January could not repeat them during this event. This bug was fixed on February 18, and all players were given 95 tickets as compensation (the sum of the challenge rewards).

As part of the THE iDOLM@STER Part 2 Collaboration Event, Special Challenges were made available for two weeks. These challenges awarded nicknames labeling a player as the producer of a specific idol, as well as a secondary reward depending on the challenge's requirements. Earning points in a specific aircraft role awarded 50,000 credits, shooting down targets in a specific aircraft awarded 3x Parts Research Reports, and shooting down targets with a specific special weapon awarded 3x Special Weapon Research Reports.

None of the challenges were repeatable, none required completion within one sortie, and all of them allowed the use of Special Aircraft.

November 2014

A Challenge Event was conducted from November 7, 4 AM GMT through November 17, 8 AM GMT. This event showcased the same Typhoon Rot Team skin as well as the same Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy emblems from the first Challenge Event, to celebrate the announcement of Ace Combat: Assault Horizon Legacy +. The event also featured four new aircraft skins, one of which being the F/A-18F Super Hornet "Grun Team" skin, as well as Grun Team's emblem.

Unlike the first Challenge Event, some challenges were immediately available, and not separated by "difficulty". Completing some challenges unlocked other ones.

These challenges re-surfaced for a short time on May 14, 2AM through May 18, 8 AM GMT.

From August 13, 2014 at 4 AM GMT to August 19, 2014 at 8 AM GMT, the first Challenge Event took place, featuring a Typhoon skin from Rot Team as well as emblems from the Lancer, Beast, Cocoon, and Albireo Squadrons.

The challenges were separated into three sets: Beginner, Intermediate, and Expert. Within each set, completing one 1.x challenge would unlock the 2.1 challenge, while completing two 1.x challenges would unlock the 2.1, 2.2, and 2.3 challenges. These rules applied to all other tiers (i.e. completing one 2.x challenge unlocks 3.1, while completing any two 2.x challenges unlocks 3.1, 3.2, and 3.3). Completing three challenges in one tier had no bearing on unlocking any extra challenges within that set's next tier.

Exclusive to the event, challenges with a time limit were locked from being re-attempted if the player failed to complete it in the time limit. This occurs with the standard challenges in the game as well, but unlike those, the challenges in the event did not have a cooldown period allowing the player to re-attempt the challenge the next day. Therefore, if a player suspected they would not be able to complete a challenge in the time limit, they should have canceled it before the time ran out to ensure that they could still complete it another time.

All gold-colored challenges contained the featured rewards for this event. All red-colored challenges featured a time limit and were locked to the player if they didn't finish it in time.

Trivia

• August 2014's Challenge Event was not explained in detail by Project Aces, requiring fans to figure out the details by themselves. As such, the information above may not be fully accurate.
• During the November 2014 Challenge Event, the "Complete a mission with at least 10 second(s) remaining" challenge was bugged; it would only complete if the player attempting the challenge was the host of the room. After a fix on November 13, the challenge was renamed to "In Online Co-Op Missions, obtain a rank of B or higher", and all players were able to complete it.
• During the November 2014 Challenge Event, the "Sortie in the Su-37 aircraft and be awarded the MVP 1 time(s)" challenge was also bugged. The player attempting it did not have to be awarded the MVP; they simply had to be on the winning team.
