The Ambush at Midway Island was a secret mission undertaken by the Golden Axe Plan Private Army in the immediate aftermath of the Valahia Crisis.[2]

Prelude

After the destruction of the Valahia and its leadership days earlier, it was found that several members of the International Union Peacekeeping Force's Martinez Security—namely Frederick Burford, the crew of AWACS Canopus, and Antares Squadron—had gone rogue, having learned of the Golden Axe Plan from Varcolac Squadron.[3] Subsequently, Andre Olivieri ordered that all who knew the truth be silenced, and tasked Milosz Sulejmani with handling the operation.[1]

Battle

As Antares and Burford refueled at Midway Island in preparation to head off the Golden Axe Plan on the mainland United States, a squadron of Golden Axe aircraft—supplemented by an Orgoi aerial warship—surrounded the island, intending on killing the 'loose ends' before they could interfere with the Plan's scheme. Antares, having managed to take off, managed to shoot down the Orgoi and the fighters, defending the grounded Canopus.[2]

As a Martinez supply flotilla, callsign 'Orca,' approached the island, Antares was sent to provide escort. As they arrived, however, Orca came under attack from a second and third Orgoi, serving as backup for the first wave of assassins. Nevertheless, Antares managed to shoot down both new Orgois, ending the Golden Axe Plan's assassination mission in failure.[2]

Aftermath

Having failed to assassinate either Burford or Antares, the Golden Axe Plan was put on the back foot as the Martinez forces arrived in mainland America. The PMC forces were subsequently able to dismantle the Golden Axe Plan's forces in Nevada[4] and Lake Tahoe,[5] before putting an end to the Plan by killing both Olivieri and Sulejmani in a final battle in San Francisco.[6]
